My First Revenge Run Extended Version
I know this is late, but better late.
I had the great fortune of being able to go on the Revenge Run this year. I have been wanting to go for a few years but either bike or job not cooperating kept me from being able to make the trip. I had taken off the 18th through the 25th so I could make it this year about six months ago. I had it all planned out with taking my bike and another engine and transmission to get the kicker gears fixed months before the 20th thinking I would have the 69 xlch back in time for sure to work out some kinks and a fender sissy bar etc.
Things happened and what I figured would work out with friends helping with fender, sissy bar, etc turned into people needing to work or I had to work couldn't make it since it turned to last minute stuff.
About a week before the run, after two days of riding a incomplete bike and tuning a carb a little I noticed my kicker cover was cracked(great just fixed the damn kicker) and still no fender or sissy bar. I found a suspension sissy bar and a fender...same buyer, decent price on ebay, 4 seconds to go and bid, won, hope they make it show up two days before the run..I had a local guy weld a fender when the sissy bar showed up and the fender didn't I cut about a inch out of the center and 3 off the end.
Machinist says he will try and get it done by friday, its wed at 4, I leave and 45 minutes later he calls saying its done. Run back asap thinking they will be closing in 15 minutes if not already, owners there, pay and thank again leave extra $10. Go to lowes and get what I figured would be close with bolts spacers nuts etc.
Come home and cut drill grind and the ebay "oem" kicker cover shows up.... shits not even close to bolting up correctly, grind, drill grind, grind, try and repeat. Finally the morning of I am trying to get on the road by 12, things don't line up stuffs off, chain rub clutch cable to close etc, work it out its 4, 5 and I re check and think "is this a good idea?, yeah I was on top of it when putting all together, just do it" I'm off.... wait one picture.. ....not many pictures, left my good camera at home worrying about rain and rushing. Just riding thinking about the bike and what was going on, enjoy it, this is rad...these were my thoughts.

Few of us had family plans and other things to take care of and I was worried about the weather turning to cold and heavy rain so we headed out after an amazing trip down with few hiccups and a great evening of good food good friends and great times... slept on the beach and woke up with one skeeter bite, not bad. Riding back was awesome. We at at High Cotten again which was amazing, chicken and dumplings don't get much better and fried Okra is awesome when done right Brisket was as good as the BBQ sandwich the day before if not better. Ride back was smooth and I took a hour break or so in Suffolk before heading back to Charlottesville. Got dumped on the last hour and a half or so but such a good trip. Thanks to everyone who helped set up run or encourage me to make this one.
